how can i get over the fear of catching a fast softball?
i went to my 2nd softball practice today, it’s to learn how to fast pitch. when we were warming up, just playing catch, i missed catching the ball almost every single time!! im new at softball. i tried out for slow pitch softball last year and didnt make it because ive never played before.
at the 1st practice i catched almost every ball but today i couldnt catch any and i think its because it was thrown a little harder. the 1st practice i was warming up with one of the girls but shes not that good so she didnt throw hard but today i was warming up with the coach because there was an uneven number of girls and i didnt have a partner.
i think i couldnt catch because im scared of getting hit by the ball. mostly in the face, but the ball is never thrown at my face. so it has to be the way im catching it.
my friends were saying its because my glove is facing downward when i catch so the ball falls out or sometimes i close the glove before the ball gets to the inside
what should i do?
let it hit me? today it hit me in the shin and there was a big bump there for a while but when i got hit, it didnt affect me at all. another hit my wrist, last week the girl threw it and it hit me in the foot, last year i was playing by myself i threw it up in the air i looked down because i thought i was going to rip over a soccer ball, i looked back up and it hit me in the eye (that one killed!) but when it hits me i dont really care but when the ball is coming i get scared, its weird, so it has to be the way im catching it…
